  • 1 box yellow cake mix (425g)
  • 1½ cups water (360ml)
  • ⅓ cup vegetable oil (80ml)
  • 3 large eggs
  • 6 apples, peeled and sliced
  • 3 tbsp brown sugar (45g)
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice (15ml)
  • ¾ cup all-purpose flour (95g)
  • ½ cup brown sugar (100g)
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • ½ cup cold butter, cubed (115g)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C) and grease a 9×13 inch pan.
  2. In a bowl, combine cake mix, water, vegetable oil, and eggs until smooth. Pour into the prepared pan.
  3. In a separate bowl, toss sliced apples with brown sugar, cinnamon, and lemon juice. Spread over the cake batter.
  4. Mix flour, brown sugar, and salt in another bowl. Cut in cold butter until crumbly. Sprinkle this mixture over the apples.
  5. Bake for 35–60 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  6. Allow to cool completely before serving. Optionally dust with powdered sugar for an extra touch.
