Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/4 cup cold butter, cut into pieces
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 3 1/2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 large egg, at room temperature
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 cup light brown sugar, packed
  • 2 1/2 tablespoons butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare a six-mold donut pan with non-stick baking spray.
  2. For the crumb topping: In a small bowl, mix together sugar, flour, and cinnamon. Add the cold butter and blend until it resembles coarse crumbs. Chill the mixture in the freezer while preparing the donuts.
  3. For the donuts: In one bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt. In another bowl, combine sour cream, egg, brown sugar, and melted butter. Gently fold the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients until just combined.
  4. Spoon or pipe the batter into the prepared donut pan and evenly sprinkle with crumb topping.
  5. Bake for about 10-11 minutes or until donuts spring back when pressed lightly. Allow cooling in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
