Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup + 2 tablespoons warm water
  • 1 ¼ teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 ½ teaspoons salt
  • 3 tablespoons canola oil
  • 3 cups flour
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter
  • ½ teaspoon garlic salt
  • 1 tablespoon grated parmesan cheese
  • Marinara sauce (for serving)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine warm water, yeast, and sugar; let sit until foamy.
  2. Stir in salt, oil, and 2 cups of flour. Gradually add remaining flour until you have a soft dough that pulls away from the bowl. Knead until smooth.
  3. Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for one hour.
  4. Punch down the risen dough and divide it into 16 pieces.
  5. Roll each piece into a 12-inch rope; cut slits on either side to create bone shapes by twisting the ends.
  6. Place on a greased baking sheet; cover and let rise for another 45 minutes to an hour.
  7. Preheat oven to 425°F during the last rising period. Bake for 12-14 minutes or until golden brown.
  8. Brush with melted butter, sprinkle with garlic salt and parmesan, and serve warm with marinara sauce.
